For my university final year special study, I looked at using the traditional foil blocking method to create reflective outcomes desired for my final major project, but found it would require many dies being produced and would not be feasible, therefore I chose to look for an alternative solution. I knew that the foil used in hot foil blocking worked on the combination of pressure and heat. I figured the closest product that could exert pressure and heat would be a desktop laminator. With the use of toner based artwork and foil, I believed there was potential to create the same effect as that of foil blocking, for less money, and with no metal dies. To my surprise it worked!
